    • John Milligan, M.D.

      Personal History

      Dr. John Milligan has surgery in his veins! Dr. Milligan is originally from Jefferson City, Tennessee where his father is a general surgeon. His late grandfather was also a surgeon and founded the hospital, the Milligan Clinic in the 1930's. Dr. Milligan is a graduate of Mercer University in Macon, Georgia with a B.S. degree in economics with minors in chemistry and biology.

      Surgical & Medical Training

      Dr. Milligan, a Board Certified General Surgeon, received his medical degree from St. George's University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. He completed his General Surgery Residency at the University of Tennessee where he received numerous awards during his residency, including the Scott Frame Trauma scholarship award given to a Junior Surgical Resident who exemplifies the values and work ethic of the trauma service as voted upon by the trauma staff surgeons. He also received the Laparoscopic Surgeons Resident Achievement Award, given to the Chief Resident with the most advanced laparoscopic skills.

      Dr. Milligan is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Southeastern Surgical Congress and the Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons.

      Dr. Milligan is passionate about improving his patients’ lives by providing the highest quality care. Vein disease affects more than 30 million Americans, yet it is a disease that is often misunderstood or overlooked by patients and physicians. “What we do impacts and improves our patients’ lives. Treating vein disease eliminates pain and discomfort and allows patients to be active and involved. Their quality of life improves significantly,” Dr. Milligan said. Dr. Milligan is experienced with the Venefit procedure and joined the Vein Guys® in 2013.

    • Stephen M. Davis, M.D.

      Personal History

      Dr. Stephen Davis was born in New Britain, Connecticut and now calls Nashville, Tennessee home. Dr. Davis served in the United States Army as a Lieutenant Colonel (1986-1996) and Chief of Plastic Surgery at Fort Lewis, Washington. He was also Deputy Commander for Clinical Services 18th MASH serving as General Surgeon and Plastic Surgeon for the 47th CSH. Dr. Davis enjoys playing and coaching ice hockey and is captain of his senior men hockey team.

      Dr. Davis is fellowship trained and Board Certified in Plastic Surgery. Dr. Davis completed is General Surgery training at Michigan State University Hospitals and continued his training at the internationally prestigious McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Lasers in Medicine.

    • Dr. Mark Benak, M.D.

      Personal History

      Dr. Mark Benak is a native of Marietta, Georgia. He attended the University of Georgia where he completed his B.S. degree in biochemistry. He lives in Monroe, Georgia where he started his general and vascular practice in 2000. Over the last 12 years, he has served as Chief of Staff, Chief of Surgery, Director of Wound Care and Trauma Director at the new Clearview Medical Center.

      Dr. Benak received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia, and completed his Residency at Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama. Dr. Benak is a Board Certified General Surgeon and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is highly trained and experienced in the most advanced surgical procedures used today.

      A Passion for Veins

      Dr. Benak became interested in veins during his residency and began focusing on venous disease, wound care, and venous interventions in 1995. Dr. Benak loves the complexity of venous disease and the pathophysiology (functional changes that occur in the veins) which results from venous disease. This passion is what enables Dr. Benak to treat his patients with the most advanced techniques and the highest standard of care. Dr. Benak joined The Vein Guys® in 2009, and is proud to be part of one of the most respected vein organizations in the country.

  • Dr. Philip Fleming

    Personal History

    Dr. Philip Fleming is from Huntsville, Alabama. He graduated from Vanderbilt University with a B.A. in biology and a minor in chemistry. He opened his plastic surgery practice in Nashville, TN in 1985. He is a private pilot with instrument and multiengine ratings. When he is not helping patients, he enjoys aviation, golf and ice hockey.

    Surgical and Medical Training

    Dr. Philip Fleming received his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham and his General Surgery training at the Medical University of South Carolina. His plastic surgery residency was at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and he completed a Hand and Microvascular Surgery Fellowship at the University of Louisville Hospitals.

    Dr. Fleming is a practicing Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at Vanderbilt University. As an active member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, he keeps pace with new developments in the field. In addition, he is on staff at Centennial Medical Center and St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville, TN.

    A Comprehensive Approach to Vein Care

    As a practicing plastic surgeon, Dr. Fleming began treating veins for cosmetic purposes. His patients frequently asked if he could help relieve their heavy, tired, achy, cramping leg symptoms, so he decided to add state-of-the-art vein care to his practice. He sought out the Vein Guys and became a part of our family.

    Dr. Fleming’s focus is a comprehensive approach to vein care as well as cosmetic and plastic surgery. “Vein Guys and I are dedicated to professionally and personally serving our patients and establishing a positive outcome in all areas of care. I constantly strive to deliver high quality service by providing individualized patient care with systems in place that ensure privacy, safety and comfort.”
